The Rev. Ann Normand, former Canon to the Ordinary in the Diocese of Texas, was honored at the Episcopal Church Women’s triennial meeting as one of their Distinguished Women. The group is meeting concurrently with the General Convention of the Episcopal Church this week in Salt Lake City.

Bishop Andy Doyle and Bishop Suffragan Jeff Fisher escorted Normand to the award luncheon by on June 28.

“What a delight we had today to be with Ann as she was honored by the Episcopal Church Women,” Bishop Doyle said. “Her ministry as a lay person and as a priest has always been nurtured by the roots she has with the Episcopal Church women.”

Normand served the ECW on a diocesan, provincial and national level from 1979-1990. From 1992-2014 she prepared for and served as an ordained priest, as rector of Trinity, Marble Falls and as Canon to the Ordinary for the Diocese.

Under her leadership at Trinity, the church grew their budget and attendance. As Canon, Normand’s duties included clergy deployment, helping congregations in a search process and placement of curates and pastoral leaders. Throughout her career, she always kept her beginnings with the ECW close to her heart and for this we are thankful, said Lisa Martin, diocesan ECW president.

“We give glory to God for the life and work of the Rev. Ann Normand,” Martin added. “She embodies the traits of good church leaders and she is both courageous, strong and has a great sense of humor. We are fortunate to celebrate her ministry among us.”
