Safeguarding God’s Children is a training program for the prevention of sexual abuse of children and youth. The program provides participants information they need to protect the children they know and care for in their personal lives and in the ministries in which they serve. If every adult can protect just one child, they will forever change one life. If we can all change one life, together we will make a difference in this generation of children.

The Diocese of Texas requires all who are employed by the congregation, all who work for the Diocese and its institutions, and all who work or volunteer with children and youth to take this training from a diocesan-certified trainer. Diocesan certificates will be issued upon completion of the course.  Also required:  a criminal background check, an application form, references and reference check (see page 7 in Safe Church Ministry Policies manual).

Training sites and dates are available below. To register for a session you may utilize the registration form provided above.  Once you have filled in the registration form please click "submit" and it will be delivered directly to our office.

Please note that additional training dates and locations are constantly added. Registration deadline is 5 days before the event. We must adhere to the deadline to facilitate our trainers' preparation for the event.

3/16/10	Christ Church Cathedral	Houston	5:00pm-8:00pm	Childcare provided for infants - Age 5 if requested by March 2nd.  Class is held in the McGehee Conference Room - entrance is on San Jacinto.  Parking is available in the Cathedral Parking Garage and will be validated for class participants.
3/17/10	St. John's	La Porte	6:30pm-8:00pm	This will be a 1.5 hr. class covering Safeguarding for Parents and Congregations.  The class will be held in Stein Hall.  Class limit 24.  Contact Kathy Buskirk for directions or questions.
3/18/10	Christ Church	Tyler	5:30pm-8:30pm	Childcare will be provided.  A light snack will also be provided.
3/22/10	St. Matthew's	Austin	6:00pm-9:00pm	Childcare is offered upon request - must notify Helen Pelkey by 3/17.  Dinner will be provided, a $5.00 donation is requested to cover the cost of the food.  Training will be held in the Youth Center, off of Mesa Drive - park in Mesa parking lot.
3/24/10	St. Mary's	Cypress	6:30pm-9:30pm	Childcare Available
3/27/10	St. Christopher's	League City	5:00pm-8:00pm	Please contact Jack Warren by 3/24 if you need childcare.  A light dinner will be provided.
4/7/10	St. Paul's	Waco	6:30pm-8:00pm	This is Part 1 of the 3 hour training.  The first video/1.5 hr will be presented April 7th and the following Wednesday April 14th training will conclude with the second video/1.5 hr.  Childcare is provided.  Dinner is at 6:00 p.m.
4/13/10	St. Michael's	Austin	6:30pm-9:30pm	Snacks.  First time training and recertification training.
