The Center for Youth Minstry

Equipping those who minister to youth in the name of Jesus Christ...

The Center for Youth Ministry offers training events, retreats and support  for all who minister with youth.  The annual Youth Ministry Conference is held each year in the spring at Camp Allen in Navasota, TX. This conference is a two-day event with a special “fish camp” session designed for those new to youth ministry or to the Diocese of Texas. The conference includes a highly acclaimed keynote speaker, workshops, roundtable discussions, opportunities to interact with the faculty, uplifting and inclusive worship, socials and free time for fun or spiritual renewal.  Each fall a youth ministers' retreat is held at the cabins surrounding Lake Coffield.  There is limited programming, but unlimited time for fellowship and networking.

   Faculty

The Center for Youth Ministry faculty is a vital part of the program. They are men and women from many walks of life who are eager to share knowledge and skills acquired in their own ministry, both ordained and lay. We ask the faculty to share with us their areas of expertise as well as the issues closest to their hearts. We build a unique list of workshops at each training event around these topics. Our faculty includes veterans of youth ministry with proven techniques and answers to your toughest questions, young men and women in the field with fresh ideas to challenge today’s youth, and other ministers who can help you in your own spiritual development and offer nourishment and renewal.  If you have an interest in becoming part of the Center for Youth Ministry faculty, please contact Erin McClure for more information.

History

The Center for Youth Ministry was created in 1998 by the Episcopal Diocese of Texas to provide year-round, comprehensive skills training and theological education for all adults who work with youth: paid, part-time, volunteer, parents, and sponsors. Today, the Center for Youth Ministry provides quality training, professional development, retreat, spiritual renewal, resources, and networking opportunities. We continue to grow and change to meet the needs of those who work with youth in the Diocese of Texas.
