Community Outreach Goals for the diocese
Episcopal Community Outreach Ministries was created by action of Council in 1989 to support, encourage and develop outreach ministries within the Diocese of Texas. The outreach grants listed in this report are made possible by your support of the Mission Funding Catalog. Designations to ECOM come back to your community in the form of these supportive outreach grants.
Bishop Don A. Wimberly has outlined the following outreach goals for our diocese
Goals:
• Create opportunities to train outreach coordinators in each congregation. • Expect that every congregation will have an outreach coordinator. • Expect that every congregation will be involved in outreach to their neighborhood and community.
• Develop ways to bridge congregations who have similar outreach interests, bringing to bear the resources we have as one church.
To assist the diocese in accomplishing these goals, Episcopal Community Outreach Ministries provides for :
• A strong network of convocational and parish outreach representatives who will foster and promote the mission of outreach goals of the diocese. • Provide outreach grants to support, encourage and indorse congregational outreach efforts. • Provide one time funding grants to new programs or ideas where there is a highdegree of Episcopal involvement. • Support the Outreach Office of the Diocese of Texas which provides an Outreach Coordinator to assist congrega- tions and clergy in supporting the outreach efforts of the diocese.
