Multicultural Programs

The Fertile Ground Project

8 CEUs for the Diocese of Texas
The Fertile Ground Project is a workshop designed to introduce new ideas, theories and skills to clergy and laity in order to create more inclusive communities. It is a program that will address issues facing our churches today including culture awareness, racism sensitivity, and other topics surrounding multicultural issues. It is designed to help people explore these issues in a respectful, safe, non-threatening manner. Rooted in the Gospel, The Fertile Ground Project affirms ones culture, explores it, and then helps one engage another ‘s culture. Participants will find that this very respectful method will address the many complexities of issues facing the church in society today.

The Fertile Ground Project is modeled after the six day Kaleidoscope Institute program based out of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles. The Rev. Eric Law first created the program after the 1992 Rodney King riots. This program was specifically designed to address the issues of racism, power struggles, communication style differences and a deeper understanding of ones own cultural awareness.

The Fertile Ground Project invites and encourages you to come learn more about building a multicultural community that achieves a balance of power, communication, respect and authenticity among the different cultures groups.

Kaleidoscope Institute

12 CEUs for the Diocese of Texas
After traveling all over the world giving workshops and trainings for churches in all the major denominations, the Rev. Eric H. F. Law finally decided to found an institute to continue the ministry that he started back in the late 1980s when he began a theological and practical journey through the landscape of diversity. His focus has always been: as a Christian, how can he follow Christ’s call to seek and serve Christ in every person and respect the dignity of every human being? What started out as a need to help himself, and others around him, address race and diversity issues in faithful and constructive ways, has evolved into something much bigger and deeper. The Kaleidoscope Institute explores what it means to be a competent leader in a diverse and changing world. Learn more.

Kaleidoscope Institute is offered three times a year. There is a four day session offered  in November at Camp Allen annually, as well as a six day Winter and Summer session in Los Angeles. The Episcopal Diocese of Texas hosts the Camp Allen session with The Rev. Eric Law or one of his associates as the lead trainer, and the Kaleidoscope Institute hosts the Winter and Summer sessions in Los Angeles.
