Bishops Conference on Outreach, at Camp Allen, October 8-9, 2010.
The conference will feature internationally respected Ruby Payne as well as other speakers, highlights of some of the more than 1000 outreach ministries in the Diocese of Texas and much more. The conference begins after lunch on Friday and concludes with a Eucharist at 1:30 on Saturday. Registration is open at 1:30 p.m. on Friday and Bishop Andy Doyle will present the opening plenary at 2 p.m. A full schedule with speakers and panel participants is available. Cost is $75 for double occupancy/$150 for single or $40 per day if not staying at Camp Allen. Register now.
Episcopal Outreach Ministries
One of the most exciting ministries of our church is our outreach to the less fortunate. It is truly a living example of our Baptismal Covenant and one that all of us are most proud. In almost every parish in the diocese, congregations and members are involved in various forms of outreach ministries.
 As part of our Diocesan Vision and Goals, we have outlined the following as outreach goals:
- Create opportunities to train outreach coordinators in each congregation.
- Expect that every congregation will have an outreach coordinator; and,
- Expect that every congregation will be involved in outreach to their neighborhood and community.
- Develop ways to bridge congregations who have similar outreach interests, bringing to bear the resources we have as ONE CHURCH.
Episcopal Community Outreach Ministries was created to assist the diocese in accomplishing these goals and to support, encourage and develop outreach ministries within the Diocese of Texas.
Ours is a mutual relationship and as we seek to serve you, we ask that you help us. As your Bishop, I am asking that you appoint an outreach coordinator for your parish.
