Do you know someone who
- Misuses alcohol
- Uses illegal drugs frequently or prescription drugs excessively
- Engages frequently in sexually inappropriate, risky or illicit behavior
- Has become financially overextended through gambling or other excessive and compulsive spending habits; or
- Has difficulty controlling their food intake and eating habits?
If so, they might be suffering from an addiction.
The Commission on Recovery for the Diocese of Texas, through its ministry, is here to help you and those you know find support and freedom from addiction. Contact:
The diocesan Commission on Recovery grew from a landmark resolution on alcoholism passed by the General Convention in 1979.
Today, the Commission’s mission is to those who, through addiction, have lost their health and freedom, seeking to:
- Help those who are ill and those who love them connect with spiritual resources and find lasting recovery;
- Witness to Christ s unfailing mercy by welcoming unchurched members of Alcoholics Anonymous and other twelve-step recovery programs into an Episcopal faith community;
- Raise the awareness of bishops, other clergy and lay leaders about addiction and the redemption and grace found in recovery;
- Strengthen recovering persons in the work of their recovery and help proclaim the Gospel in the world and carry their recovery into the Church
The Recovery Ministries of the Episcopal Church, Inc. carries on this work nationally.
