Message from the Treasurer

Assessment payments have been the subject of a good deal of discussion at recent Executive Board meetings.  In an effort to clarify their position and better understand the situation, the Executive Board has asked that those congregations who are more than 120 days in arrears with their assessment payments as of August 31, 2009, send their Head of Congregation and Wardens to attend the Executive Board's meeting on September 15 at Camp Allen. The leadership will be asked to explain the financial and stewardship issues that the congregation is facing.

The Board Members of St. James' House cordially invite you and your friends to attend the Annual Silver Tea at the home of Susan and Lenoir Josey, 3617 Inverness Drive, Houston, Texas 77019, on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm. St. James' House is a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. It is a retirement community in Baytown that provides a high level of care in a loving Christian environment.  St. James' House  is open to all, regardless of financial resources. The Silver Tea is an annual fundraiser to provide financial assistance to those who cannot afford the cost of their care. The tradition of a Silver Tea has its roots in England, where churches held teas to further their charitable causes. The name derives  from the silver coins deposited in a large bowl set by the door for gracious donations from guests. If you are unable to attend, but would like to support this ministry, you may send a check to St. James' House, 5800 West Baker Road, Baytown, Texas 77520.  More information is available at
