Walter Brueggeman - Discussion QuestionThe Episcopal Faith
Dr. Brueggeman states that there are three tasks of prophets – (1) Telling the truth of the society in which they live. (2) Inviting people to grieve their loss. (3) Pondering God’s newness against their despair. Which of these three tasks seem the most urgent given the “free fall” in which we find ourselves?
Part of the newness and hope that God is bringing to the world is making room for others who are not like us. Do you agree? Where do you feel challenged to find new conversation partners to open new dimensions of your thinking and living?
Who do you identify as a modern day prophet in the world? How do you see yourself fitting into the picture of being a player, a poet, an artist and a prophet in the world?
