Calvary, Richmond Looks to Win a Fruit Orchard

Calvary, Richmond wants to add an orchard to their community garden, but they need help. Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream is awarding fruit orchards to the highest vote recipients in an online contest at Voting opens on April 15.

Calvary’s gardeners raised more than 1500 pounds of fresh produce last year, most of which was donated to local food pantries and the women’s center. More than 525 students have worked in the garden learning about growing vegetables, helping their neighbors and completing Eagle Scout projects. This year they added a junior Master Gardener’s class.

“Fruit trees would add beauty, interest and wonderful food to our garden,” said Anne Ondrusek, who planned the garden. Ondrusek hopes the fruit orchard would be a huge boost to the gardens and shine a light on the ministry of Calvary Episcopal Church in Richmond.

Supporters can vote once a day for six weeks and the top five vote getters will be chosen. Please add this URL to your calendars and vote every day for Calvary:
