Christ Church Cathedral Prayer Service For Peace in Ukraine

Christ Church Cathedral, Houston, is hosting a special prayer service for peace in Ukraine and for the comfort and protection of the Ukrainian people on April 9, from 6 to 7 p.m. to offer prayers for peace in Ukraine and throughout the world.

This event follows the Cathedral’s March 13 service which featured special music in Ukrainian and a designated offering which raised $24,000 for Episcopal Relief and Development and was designated for humanitarian relief in Ukraine.

Christ Church Cathedral Dean, the Very Reverend Barkley S. Thompson says, “Daily, the conflict in Ukraine is heartrending. With equal parts empathy and existential concern, members of our own community are asking, ‘What can we do?’ This Saturday, the Cathedral will respond as we always have to crises both local and farther afield: We will first pray for God’s redemption of a broken world, and we will then provide material assistance to the Ukrainian people under duress and in great need. We hope members of the Ukrainian community in Houston will be able to attend, as we worship in solidarity with them.”

All who are interested in showing support for the Ukrainian people and anyone who wants to come and pray with us is welcome to attend. Following the service join others in attendance for light refreshments and a time of fellowship in Reynolds Hall.

Experience worship with us this Sunday at historic Christ Church Cathedral, where ALL are welcome.
