Jubilee Ministries

In 1982 the Standing Commission of the Episcopal Church said “The Jubilee Ministry will be a celebrative ministry, based on our belief that by affirming the biblical priorities of God – in partnership with the poor, the powerless, and the vulnerable – we discover our own humanity in Christ, our own freedom.”

The mandate for a Jubilee Ministry is to be a “ministry of joint discipleship in Christ with poor and oppressed people, wherever they are found, to meet basic human needs and to build a just society.” 

The Diocese of Texas has nine Jubilee Centers that provide outreach programs to the people in their communities. These centers have applied successfully to the National Executive Board for the honor of being a Jubliee Center: 

Austin |  El Buen Samaritano Episcopal Center 
Austin |  The Trinity Center       

Beaumont | Ubi Caritas, a healing ministry

Galveston | St. Vincent’s House, Day Care and Clinic 

Houston | Iglesia Episcopal San Mateo
Houston | Lord of the Streets Jubilee Center
Houston | ECHOS
Houston | The Way Station
Houston | Jubilee at St. James'
