SUMMARY:The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse Series
DESCRIPTION:Website: https://sjd.org/group/the-four-horsemen-of-the-apocalypse \nThe Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse\nTuesdays\, June 11 – July 9\nThe Chapel at The Church of St. John the Divine\n2450 River Oaks Blvd\, 77019\nLight bites and fellowship at 6:30 pm\nTalk at 7 pm\n\nIn the Book of Revelation\, we hear of the four horsemen of the apocalypse who mark the end of the world. People have debated what they represent\, with one interpretation being that these four represent pestilence\, war\, famine\, and death. Since all four have been realities of human life for centuries\, we are left with two questions: “How does the gospel address these realities\, and how do we live a Christian life in the midst of these apocalyptic signs?”\n\nClergy\, staff\, and guest speakers lead a conversation on the theology and practice of gospel-centered living in a time of pestilence\, war\, famine\, and death.\n\nJune 11: Pestilence\nHope and Temperance After the Pandemic\nThe Rev. Neal McGowan with the Rt. Rev. Andy Doyle\, Bishop of Texas\n\nJune 18: Famine\nChristian Hospitality on a Dry Earth\nSutton Lowe with David Sharp\, Exploration Green\n\nJune 25: War\nJesus\, the Church\, and Violence\nThe Rev. Trent Pettit with Henriette Mutegwaraba\, author and genocide-survivor\n\nJuly 2: Death\nThe Good Death\nDr. Kira Moolman Pettit with Dr. Kurt Merkelz\, Chief Medical Officer for Compassus\n\nJuly 9: Revelation\nCatastrophe and the Good Life\nDr. Kira Moolman Pettit and the Rev. SUMMARY:Beatles Sunday
DESCRIPTION:All We Need is Love – A Beatles Liturgy\n \n“This is my commandment\, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this\, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:12-13\nBring friends and come enjoy as St. Stephen’s celebrates God’s peace and love with a Sixties spin. Over the decades the music of the Beatles has grown far beyond its original intention\, and is wrapped up in our memories\, our dreams\, and in our own beliefs. \n“All You Need Is Love” is a famous Beatles’ song and we can sing it thinking about the love of God who came to earth to experience the full range of human life\, from joy to suffering. When we sing “Help\, I need somebody”\, we remember that the Christian Community was formed to be just that\, a place to help us get our feet back on the ground! And when we sing “And in the end\, the love you take is equal to the love you make\,” we remember that as much as we love the people in our lives\, we experience God’s love greater than any love we can give!\nA Beatles-themed reception will follow in our parish hall. \nOur team gets very creative with fun food like Strawberry Fields Salad\, Mr. Egg Man deviled eggs\, I Want To Hold Your Ham served with Eleanor Rollsby and Mean Mr. Mustard. The parish hall will be decorated to reflect the peace and love that abounds.\nThis is the perfect day to bring a guest who has not yet experienced the Episcopal Church!\n \nLink to Facebook Event Page

SUMMARY:A Case for Love' Documentary Film Screening & Discussion wit
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, November 24th: \n10:00 a.m. – Filmmaker Brian Ide joins The Very Reverend Nathaniel Katz for a discussion of his film ‘A Case for Love’. \n6:00 p.m. – Screening of ‘A Case for Love’ \nInspired by the teachings and writings of The Most Rev. Michael Curry\, “A Case for Love” is a heartfelt film telling the stories of Americans: prison inmates to politicians and celebrities\, the common public\, and the military. Our society is more divided than ever. Many have moved into tribal corners\, seeing the world from an “us versus them” point of view. This feature-length documentary examines the question of whether or not love\, specifically—unselfish—love\, is the solution to the extreme societal and political divide facing the world. This event is free. \nFor more information\, or to register\, click here: www.christchurchcathedral.org/acaseforlove/

SUMMARY:St. Cuthbert's Blood Drive
DESCRIPTION:Blood Drive in support of hospitals in the Greater Houston Area. All donors will receive a free hoodie\, and as an added benefit\, donors will receive a free A1c test. The A1c test is a simple blood test that measures average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months\, helping to identify prediabetes and diabetes early.\n \nBlood donations are critically needed during the holiday season\, when donation drops as everyone begins traveling and celebrating. But patients in area hospitals continue to need blood products to sustain them at all times. It typically takes about 3 days for the blood to clear testing and be transfused to a patient\, so the blood you donate on Dec 22 could save someone’s life on Christmas Day!\n \nAppointments requested please: www.commitforlife.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/381810 \nClick here for flyer \nContact Information:\nKatie A Nippress\n\nknippress@giveblood.org\n\n832-271-9255
