The Great Commission Foundation

Year Established: 2013
President:  Teddy Adams – Trinity, Houston (home congregation)

The Great Commission Foundation was founded in 2013. The funding for this foundation originated from the sale of St. Luke’s Hospital by the Episcopal Diocese of Texas in 2013. Ten percent (10%) of the proceeds of that sale were directed fund the foundation. The foundation has ten board members. Nine have three-year terms and are eligible to be reappointed to an additional three-year term. Bishop Doyle serves as the tenth board member. The Great Commission Foundation has corpus of just over $100 million.

The Great Commission Foundation has multiple key functions. First, it has the responsibility for funding the church-planting strategy for the Diocese of Texas. This involves providing financial support to new Episcopal communities and churches. In some cases, this will involve entering into leases for rented space or property purchases.

Secondly, The Great Commission Foundation provides support for select missions of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas.

Finally, The Great Commission Foundation provides support for the college campus ministries located at multiple colleges and universities located within the boundaries of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas.
