Creativity, hospitality, and joy were alive across the diocese throughout Advent, Las Posadas, and Christmas. During this season, congregations came together to celebrate, bearing witness to a living faith expressed through community, tradition, and service.
In Austin, Episcopal churches united for “La Gran Posada,” a historic celebration hosted at St. David’s Episcopal Church that gathered hundreds of people from across the local faith community on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025. In a powerful show of unity, the event honored Hispanic heritage and the spirit of welcome at the heart of Las Posadas. Jubilee Episcopal Church was part of this large communal celebration, contributing to an event marked by shared prayer, procession, and joy. IONA Collaborative was also present, with images capturing the vibrant participation and sense of belonging that defined the gathering.

At Jubilee Episcopal Church (Austin), La Gran Posada also offered a warm and welcoming space lit by candlelight, hot cocoa, and a clear message: an open community and a safe place for all.

At Christ Church Cathedral (Houston), Las Posadas gathered a large crowd for a moving procession that recalled the journey of Mary and Joseph, celebrated Christian hospitality, and honored the faithful ministry of Padre Simón.
San Romero Episcopal (Houston) and Emmanuel Episcopal Church (Houston) came together to celebrate Las Posadas. In addition, Emmanuel hosted a vibrant and creative Nativity, complete with live animals that brought the story of Jesus’ birth closer to children and adults alike.
Las Posadas were also joyfully celebrated at Trinity Episcopal Church (Houston) and St. James Episcopal Church (Austin), strengthening neighborhood ties and shared faith.

In southwest Houston, a community outreach led by Rev. Alejandro Montes brought joy to more than 400 children through a collaborative effort with law enforcement, clergy, and community partners. In the same spirit, the St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church Cook and Serve Team served breakfast at Lord of the Streets, closing the year with a strong showing of volunteers and care.
At St. Mark’s Episcopal Church (Bay City), the Christmas Pageant brought together 25 youth and more than 125 parishioners in a celebration marked by participation, dedication, and intergenerational joy.

In Fort Worth, El Jardín celebrated Our Lady of Guadalupe and is preparing for a Three Kings celebration on January 5, while Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church (Bryan) shared Christmas spirit with the wider city by participating in the downtown lighted Christmas parade.
In addition, the first Spanish-language certification group of IONA Collaborative celebrated Christmas in La Gran Posada, and as a diocese, we celebrate this important milestone of formation and community alongside them.
