Lord of the Streets -LOTS – is entering an exciting season of growth as renovations and organizational changes expand its ability to serve people experiencing homelessnessin Houston.
Renovations to the church’s first floor are expected to be completed by the end of October. The redesigned space will allow more services to move indoors, creating a welcoming environment where people can meet with case workers, attend classes, search for employment, rebuild essential life skills and take meaningful steps toward obtaining and maintaining stable housing.
Meals are also now being served inside instead of through the previous outdoor grab-and-go model. Guests can sit together, connect with staff and receive additionalsupport while sharing a meal. One returning guest described the difference: “This is wonderful, and I’m going to be coming here again.”
These improvements complement LOTS’ existing services, including mail, showers, clothing, vision and Harris Health clinics, prayer, Bible studies, recovery meetings and meals.
LOTS is also celebrating the dedicated leadership of retiring Executive Director Marie Marchand while preparing to welcome a new Chief Program Officer. This role willoversee programs and support the expansion of LOTS’ overnight shelter, which currently houses two men and is expected to grow in phases to accommodate as many as 18 people in a peaceful and healing environment.
Through these changes, Lord of the Streets continues strengthening its ministry and creating new opportunities for people to receive care, develop stability and move toward permanent housing.
