Rededication and Celebration of Houston Church After Suffering Significant Loss by Hurricane Harvey

It was a special day for parishioners and leaders of St. Thomas’, Houston, as they welcomed the Bishop of Texas, Andy Doyle, for the rededication and celebration of their church on Sunday, February 20, 2022.

In a traditional ceremony, Bishop Doyle began the service by knocking on the door three times, requesting permission to enter the church. During the service, the Rev. David Browder, rector of St. Thomas’, encouraged the congregation, that while the church suffered tremendous loss during Hurricane Harvey, God has graciously restored His house to be a blessing for generations to come.

In 2017, flooding from Hurricane Harvey severely damaged nearly 70 percent of the buildings at the St. Thomas’ campus. Church renovations repaired the damage caused by the flood. Buildings also received critical mechanical and infrastructure upgrades.
