Over the weekend, two church plants from the Diocese of Texas held consecration ceremonies for their new worship space. Bishop Ryan presided and preached at Church of the Cross, Austin, and Bishop Monterroso at San Romero, Houston.
Church of the Cross started in 2013 as an engaged pop-up church- the longest of any church plant in the diocese. They literally exhausted the use of their trailer. As their congregation continues to grow, they will be using rental spaces instead of constructing a new building to avoid mortgage debt at this time.
The community of San Romero began in 2017. St. Christopher’s, Houston, graciously offered their space for worship early on. As San Romero grew in size, they began to search for their own worship space. While the building is not fully complete, San Romero will continue their celebration this Saturday as they gather for their first Eucharist, followed by a gratitude party starting at 5 p.m. Festivities will be held at their location. 5705 Thomas Rd. Como San Romero creció en tamaño, comenzaron a buscar su propio espacio de adoración.
