All We Need is Love – A Beatles Liturgy
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:12-13
Bring friends and come enjoy as St. Stephen’s celebrates God’s peace and love with a Sixties spin. Over the decades the music of the Beatles has grown far beyond its original intention, and is wrapped up in our memories, our dreams, and in our own beliefs.
“All You Need Is Love” is a famous Beatles’ song and we can sing it thinking about the love of God who came to earth to experience the full range of human life, from joy to suffering. When we sing “Help, I need somebody”, we remember that the Christian Community was formed to be just that, a place to help us get our feet back on the ground! And when we sing “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make,” we remember that as much as we love the people in our lives, we experience God’s love greater than any love we can give!
A Beatles-themed reception will follow in our parish hall.
Our team gets very creative with fun food like Strawberry Fields Salad, Mr. Egg Man deviled eggs, I Want To Hold Your Ham served with Eleanor Rollsby and Mean Mr. Mustard. The parish hall will be decorated to reflect the peace and love that abounds.
This is the perfect day to bring a guest who has not yet experienced the Episcopal Church!
