FIND School for Spiritual Direction and Formation

FIND is a training program for spiritual direction and formation that was created by the Diocese of Texas in 1997. Spiritual Directors are individuals who feel called to walk with those who seek to know God in love. Their journey is one that inspires others by providing tools for building authentic, fulfilling and deeply meaningful, spiritual practices.

Spiritual Directors who specialize in formation have a unique opportunity to shape healthy communities through service by leading quiet days, formation retreats and developing new ministries. F-in-D offers a three year certificate program which includes a discernment retreat, classes that meet once a month (September through May) and an annual year end retreat at Camp Allen in Navasota, TX.

FIND focuses on five areas:

  • History of Christian Spirituality
  • Personal Spiritual Formation
  • Psychology of Spirituality
  • Prayer
  • Practicum

To date, FIND has commissioned a diverse group of 145 people. About 80 percent of our graduates are Episcopalian as we focus on Anglican spirituality, but our graduates include people from the Roman Catholic and seven other Christian denominations, and represent both clergy and lay. We also stretch beyond the diocese as our graduates have come as far as South Texas, West Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. More than 20 people are currently enrolled.

We invite you to visit us online for review and dissemination.

I believe in God as I believe in the sun,
not because I can see it,
but because by it I see everything.
