God Doesn’t Discriminate Between the Sinners and the Saints

Bishop Jeff W. Fisher Sermon at St. John the Divine, Houston

On All Saints Sunday, Bishop Jeff W. Fisher delivered a powerful sermon reminding us of a simple yet transformative truth: God’s love makes no distinction between sinners and saints.

Through the grace of baptism, we are all marked as Christ’s own: fully forgiven, unconditionally loved, and called to new life in Him. Drawing from his own story at St. John the Divine, Bishop Fisher invites us to reflect on what it means to belong to a community shaped by mercy, gratitude, and faith that transcends human divisions.

This spirit of renewal was beautifully embodied in the day’s celebrations, which included 15 baptisms, among them 7 children baptized by Bishop Fisher, and 19 confirmations, receptions, and reaffirmations. Each moment bore witness to God’s inclusive love and the call to live faithfully in community with one another.

Watch Bishop Fisher’s moving sermon, view photos from the All Saints celebration, and join us in giving thanks for the unearned love that continues to unite us all.
