“Christian discipleship happens in relationship… as hearts break and open, space is made to listen deeply for the heartbeat of God—together, as a Beloved Community.”

Formation in the Episcopal Diocese of Texas continues to grow through presence, trust, and shared transformation. This year marks a historic moment: the launch of IONA’s first certificate program in Spanish—designed to equip and empower leaders from Spanish-speaking communities through the lens of relationship and deep belonging.

This new offering is part of a broader diocesan commitment to accessible, theologically grounded, and culturally responsive formation. Whether online or in person, the Spanish-language certificate invites participants into a learning journey shaped by accompaniment, mutual growth, and the conviction that we are not alone in this work.

Over the past year, leaders across the diocese have participated in retreats, parish-based sessions, and online platforms that foster meaningful connection, reflection, and purpose. This growing network is supported by initiatives like the We Belong to Each Other podcast, monthly leader calls, and a new preaching track in Spanish, all designed to nurture formation that is lived, not just learned.

“Formation is not about mastering content—it’s about being formed into the image of Christ in community,” says The Rev. Canon Josh Ritter. “It happens through conversation, through practice, and through being present with one another.”

From grants for local projects to micro-courses and continuing education support, formation is more than programming—it’s a way of life.
