Secretary-General of the Anglican Communion Visits the Episcopal Diocese of Texas.

In a week marked by deep listening, dialogue, and shared hope, the Rt. Rev. Anthony Poggo, Secretary-General of the Anglican Communion, visited the Episcopal Diocese of Texas to witness firsthand the churchโs commitment to inclusive ministry, multicultural outreach, and gospel-centered community transformation. As Bishop Poggo noted, the Diocese lives by the values of being โMulticultural. Reaching out to serve. Meeting human needs.โ
Hosted by Bishop Andy Doyle, Bishop Poggo met with clergy, church planters, and lay leaders across the Dioceseโs vast 70,000-square-mile region, home to 175 congregations and over 77,000 parishioners.
One of the Dioceseโs highest priorities is creating welcoming and inclusive churches where immigrant communities feel a true sense of belonging. On June 10, accompanied by the Rt. Rev. Hector Monterroso, Bishop Assistant, Bishop Poggo visited St. Paulโs Episcopal Church/Iglesia Episcopal San Pablo and St. Peterโs/San Pedro Episcopal Church, both with vibrant ministries serving Houstonโs diverse Anglo and Hispanic populations through bilingual worship and outreach.
Reflecting on his visit, Bishop Poggo said,
โItโs encouraging to see how the local church is caring for people in need and embracing its mission with creativity and compassion.โ

The Dioceseโs Faith in the Future strategy equips leaders to anticipate the challenges shaping communities through 2035, inspiring ministry that is both visionary and Gospel-centered.
Bishop Doyle shared,
โWe are honored by Bishop Poggoโs visit and inspired to continue reaching out in Christโs name. Together, we share in a global mission of love and service.โ
