The Rev. Alex Montes-Vela serves as Missioner for Campus Missions in the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. He supports, coaches, and collaborates with the diocesan network of campus missioners and congregations engaged with colleges and universities across the diocese, helping develop sustainable ministries where students can encounter Christian community, vocation, and belonging during their college and university years. His work includes leadership development, pastoral support, strategic planning, and guiding congregations that sense a call to engage a nearby campus. He also works with congregations in missional discernment and new ministry initiatives, drawing on his experience as a church planter, pastor, and coach.

Before joining the diocesan staff, he was the founding priest of St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church in Manor, Texas, which began in his home in 2010 and grew into a bilingual, multi-ethnic community worshiping in English and Spanish. Born in Peru, Alex is married to Thi, who was born in Vietnam. They have three adult children and two granddaughters.
