St. Vincent's House in Galveston Vaccinates Underserved
February 12, 2021
St. Vincent's House (SVH) hosted a COVID-19 vaccination event reaching the most vulnerable within its underserved population. Getting 96 needles of vaccine into the arms of clients and patients meeting the IB criteria, SVH is slowing the spread of COVID-19 in Galveston and beyond. SVH partnered with UTMB, utilizing a plan that was executed by navigators and case managers who focused on vaccinating its food pantry clientele. Their appointment-only scheduling process took place through conversations between SVH staff and its clients since 48% of its client base has no access to the internet. SVH is pleased to report that 50% of people who received the vaccine were Spanish speaking.
