The Bishop Quin Foundation
Year Established: 1943
President: The Rev. Bill Fowler – St. Mary’s, Lampasas (home congregation)
The Bishop Quin board consists of eleven members. Nine have three-year terms and these members can be reappointed for one additional three-year term. The Bishop and Treasurer of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas serve as ex-officio board members with voice and vote.
The Bishop Quin Foundation has multiple primary functions. First, it maintains a Permanent Fund that holds all of the investment and mineral assets (producing and non-producing). Each year the board elects to transfer a portion of the Permanent Fund to its Revolving Fund. Grants and loans can be made from the Revolving Fund. Grant examples include grants to help support the cost of clergy sabbaticals, grants to help congregations pay for a portion of the cost of hiring a Curate, and grants to help revitalize certain congregations.
The Bishop Quin foundation also maintains a Leadership Fund. Some of the grants awarded from the Leadership Fund support diocesan seminarians, support formation initiatives that prepares lay and clergy for leadership in the Episcopal Church as well as supporting the four seminaries where seminarians from the Diocese of Texas attend.
Additionally, the Bishop Quin Foundation maintains a Health & Wellness Fund. This fund is setup to support insurance premiums for clergy and lay employees, defraying the cost of a Diocesan wellness office, emergency health needs to clergy and lay employees, and providing pastoral resources to the parishioners of the Diocese.
Finally, the Bishop Quin Foundation makes special grants called Wider Church Grants. These grants support worthy endeavors from entities located anywhere in the Anglican Communion.
