On Saturday, August 29, we joyfully celebrated the Caminando con Cristo retreat at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church in Manor, Texas.
The gathering brought together 72 Latino clergy members and lay leaders from churches across the Austin region for a day of prayer, study, service, and reflection on what it means to follow Christ. Participants renewed their faith and their commitment to continue growing and serving through discipleship groups in their local congregations.

The Rev. Nancy Frausto, Director of the Latinx Studies Program at Seminary of the Southwest, shared a bilingual sermon reflecting more deeply on the retreat experience. She reminded us that gatherings like this confirm that the Church is alive and that keeping it alive requires commitment, prayer, study, and service.
Our responsibility as Christians does not end when we leave church on Sunday. There, we receive the spiritual strength and nourishment we need to go out into the world, share God’s love, and transform ourselves, our families and communities.
