Celebrating the Blessing of the Pets Across the Diocese

Paws, prayers, and a few scales!

A little drizzle, plenty of wagging tails, and even a snake! Congregations across the Diocese of Texas celebrated the Blessing of the Animals, giving thanks for the creatures who fill our lives with companionship, laughter, and love. Enjoy the photos from some of these joyful celebrations!

Resurrection, Austin

Rain did not get the last word at Resurrection! Parishioners gathered beneath the oak trees outside the Parish Hall for a service led by Fr. Cameron Spoor, with music from the churchโ€™s own band, The BFlattitudes. A community picnic kept the celebration going afterward. St. Francis would surely have approved!

Trinity, The Woodlands

Blessings and beloved companions made for a joyful celebration in The Woodlands. These pets were ready for their closeups!

Christ Church, Mexia

At this small rural church, the Rev. Karen Jean Petit blessed beloved pups, including Spike, who even received his own certificate! Enjoy the photos from this sweet celebration. ๐Ÿ˜Š

In the News: St. Cyprianโ€™s, Lufkin

Dogs, cats, and a snake named Zander joined the celebration at St. Cyprianโ€™s on October 4, the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. As reported by KTRE in a story also published on KLTV, the Rev. Ashley Cook offered blessings while neighbors collected pet food and litter for local animal rescues. A beautiful reminder that caring for Godโ€™s creatures brings communities together.
