The Episcopal Diocese of Texas joins El Buen Samaritano in congratulating its CEO, Dr. Rosamaria Murillo, on receiving the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award. The recognition was presented at Celebrando Austin on October 3, honoring her lasting contributions to the Central Texas community.
Throughout her career, Dr. Murillo has worked to strengthen communities, advocate for Latino families, and expand opportunities for future generations. Her leadership reflects the mission of El Buen Samaritano, an outreach ministry of the Diocese of Texas that helps families access healthcare, education, and essential resources while affirming the dignity of every person.
In its reflection on the celebration, El Buen shared a particularly meaningful moment from Dr. Murillo’s remarks: her tribute to her parents, husband, and sons. Her words brought the evening’s theme, Generaciones: The First. The Next. The Future., to life, recognizing the love and sacrifices of those who came before her and the possibilities being created for those who follow.
For our diocesan community, this recognition is an opportunity to celebrate a leader whose work expresses the call to love and serve our neighbors. It also honors the families, colleagues, and community members who share in that work every day.
Congratulations, Dr. Murillo! We give thanks for the compassion, courage, and corazón you bring to El Buen Samaritano and for the lives you continue to touch across Central Texas.
