A Community That Makes Room

On November 8, during his visit to St. Julian of Norwich in Austin, Bishop Seage witnessed a remarkable moment of faith: three baptisms and twenty-two confirmations in a single service.

In his message, Bishop Seage reflected on what makes a community of faith truly grow:

“There’s something very inviting, very welcoming about your community of faith—something deeply important to you about making sure all God’s people know they are welcome here, that they can find new life and new hope in this place.”

He reminded the congregation that transformation happens when we make room—literally and spiritually. Scooting over in pews. Opening our hands. Welcoming with our lives. Offering space at the holy table for anyone seeking to be filled and sent out to do God’s work in the world.

Moments like these—baptisms, confirmations, renewal—are not routine. They are signs of a living, growing, generous church where God’s love takes root and becomes tangible.
