Austin, TX โ On November 23, El Buen Samaritano Episcopal Mission will distribute Thanksgiving meal packages to 1,000 low-income families in our community during its annual Hands for Hope event. A tradition for the past 29 years, over 4,000 people are expected to attend this event that celebrates the generosity of the faith community to immigrant, Latino and low-income families experiencing food insecurity.

October 2-4, the newly-named Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty hosted the Together at the Table Hunger and Poverty Summit in Waco. The group formerly known as the Texas Hunger Initiative (THI) hosted hundreds of participants from across Texas and the nation for a three-day learning event. EHF staff members and representatives from St. Philip’s-Hearne, Christ Church-Temple, St. James-Houston, Holy Comforter-Angleton (Peach Tree Farmer’s Market), and El Buen Samaritano of Austin all attended the event.
Over the past year, members of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Liberty and community partners have found common ground in their shared hope for a healthier city. The fruit of that work is their newly-formed nonprofit, the dWELLing.
