Calvary Students Win Best Play in State Competition

Karsyn Jones as Irena, teaching the children of Terezin

Calvary Episcopal Preparatory Middle School students won Best Play in State One Act Play Competition in Lewisville, TX. Their play, “I Never Saw Another Butterfly” by Celeste Raspanti brought the audience to tears through the story of Raja and the Jewish children in Terezin during the Holocaust.

There were no butterflies at Terezin, but for the children, butterflies became the symbol of defiance and hope, making it possible for them to live for tomorrow.

Through this beautiful version, Calvary garnered two Honorable Mentions for William Broussard and Julia Jones and two All Star Cast for Aubree Kuperus and Karsyn Jones. Congratulations Calvary students and directors – Lauren Rios, Jenny Jones and Hunter Baen.
