Safeguarding for Parent Volunteers & Vendors

Parent Volunteers & Vendors

Parents who assist no more than six times a year with a program in which their child is enrolled are exempt from Safeguarding screening and training requirements. Such assistance includes providing transportation but does not include serving as a Qualified Adult or in any role that includes supervisory responsibilities or being alone with a single child or youth other than a member of their family.

The following video is an overview of the Safeguarding Policies for The Protection of Children, Youth, and Adults for those serving as volunteers no more than six times a year and venders not working directly with children. It is not intended to be a replacement for Safeguarding screening and training but an introductory resource for volunteers helping in school classrooms and youth programs. Volunteers play a big part in helping to create a culture of health and safety in our communities.
