The Episcopal Asiamerican Ministries (EAM) South Asian Convocation gathered for its annual Leadership Meeting from September 2–4, 2025, at Camp Allen, hosted by the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. Located in Huntsville, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church celebrated a Spirit-filled weekend as Bishop Jeff W. Fisher baptized, confirmed, received, and witnessed the reaffirmation of faith of 14 people. The day before, four young people from the newly formed Kiswahili worshipping community at St. Stephen’s were baptized by full immersion. The Rev. Dr. Joseph Gatungu, Vicar of the Kiswahili community, presided at the baptisms, marking a joyful and historic moment for the parish. St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Lampasas began in 1873, when the Rt. Rev. Alexander Gregg, first Bishop of Texas, licensed Dr. Thomas S. Denny as a lay reader for a small group of Episcopalians. St. Mary’s was formally organized as a mission of the Diocese of Texas in 1875. From these modest beginnings, the parish has grown into a vibrant faith community of 110 baptized members, drawing inspiration from generations of devoted leaders and families who have sustained the church throughout its long history. This summer, St. Cuthbert and St. Thomas – both located in Houston – hit the road for their very first international mission trip. Eleven youth and five adults from both Episcopal Churches, spent six nights and seven days near Guatemala City serving with Praying Pelican Missions, an organization dedicated to “churches helping churches”.  The mission included support for a vibrant women’s ministry, food distribution, and providing cleaning supplies for families in need.
