New Iona Deans Announced

Bishop Ryan is pleased to announce the calls of the Rev. Francene Young as Dean of Administration and the Rev. Dr. Andrew Benko as Dean of Formation to the Iona School for Ministry starting June 1, 2021. Each brings a unique set of experiences, talents, and gifts that will be a blessing to the Diocese, the students, and the vision for the school. Eight Deacons Ordained at Christ Church Cathedral

On Saturday, June 26, Suffragan Bishop Kathryn M. Ryan ordained eight deacons: Larry Adams-Thompson; Christine Elridge Brunson; Ryan Ashlea Hawthorne; Joel C. McAlister; Jason Phillip Myers; Beth Anne Nelson; Lynn A. K. Osgood; Jack Mann Karn. The ordination took place at Christ Church Cathedral.

For many of us, meeting together to read from Scripture, talk, listen, laugh, pray, and discuss simple homework assignments is a cherished facet of church life. Imagine if the group was comprised of as many people of color as white people, co-led by a person of color, and meeting to take a deep dive into issues of race. This is what happened when ten church members began meeting, via Zoom because of the pandemic, in a Be the Bridge group.

Trinity, Marshall, Volunteers Spend Mission Week Giving Back to Local Community

The youth minister at Trinity Episcopal Church is big on mission trips. Since she’s been there, they have gone on mission trips to St. Louis to work the intercity, southeast Texas to help with flood relief, New Orleans to minister to the homeless and Baton Rouge to restore a daycare for the underprivileged after it was destroyed by flooding.
