El Buen Samaritano, a nonprofit and outreach ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Rosamaria Murillo as its executive director starting July 15. Murillo is a recognized public health advocate who has vast experience in public policy, higher education, nonprofit and government management.
The Helping Center of Marble Falls Area garden soon will be rooted in a new home with more level land and space and a permanent storage building. Produce from the garden, which is currently located at 1315 Broadway in Marble Falls, goes to families seeking assistance from the food pantry.

Southeast Texas non-profit organizations received $44,500 in community outreach grants from St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Downtown Beaumont. The grants were presented to representatives from each organization at a special ceremony today at the downtown church. The grants are given annually from the proceeds generated by St. Mark’s Chili Supper and Bazaar and their resale store, the Treasure House. In the last ten years, St. Mark’s has been able to give a total of $443,700 in grants.

Between April 26 – 28, I spent my weekend in prison… with the Jubilee Prison Ministry. I admit that coming off the heels of the tragic, sudden passing of Stuart and Angela Kensinger, who were good friends and professional colleagues as co-founders of Jerusalem Peacebuilders, I had mixed feelings about the weekend and my attendance.
